Urban Paddle: Crabtree Creek (Raleigh, NC)
I was a little nervous about this paddle due to the fact that Crabtree Creek floods a good bit and could present some real dangers if conditions were not just right. The creek level was just over the 6.5 ft. mark and I took a chance and it really paid off. This was a wonderful "micro-adventure" and I didn't have to drive far to make it happen. Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching! - Clint

Overnight in a Tipi-Tarp
Переглядів 5013 місяці тому
I had never tried my tarp in this configuration before. My thoughts are that it looks great but is only functional in really nice weather. The ground sheet is a plus but if it were raining much stronger than a drizzle - I think you'd get wet. I also attempted to cook over coals in the Bushbuddy stove but as you'll see that didn't go as planned either. Still, this was a nice outing and I was hap...

Got a late start on this outing but maximized my time in the woods by keeping it simple! No tent, tarp, or fancy gear to mess with... just a bivy bag, air mattress and sleeping bag. Lunch in the Forest ~ Cooked over the Coals

With only a few short hours of time off, I had just enough time to pack a bag and get into the woods to cook a lunch over the coals. 3W Wood Stove MODIFICATION
Переглядів 40210 місяців тому
The Wild Wild West Titanium Wood Stove is a great piece of kit. It packs down nicely and works well... except for one piece - the chimney pipe connector. The connection is very loose and relies on a delicate balance with the tent stove jack. Since the chimney rests on the outside of the connector, moisture and creosote can run down the pipe, leak out, and burn on top of the stove creating smoke...

    Nice, I am looking to build a greenhouse like this in back of my house ✊🏾 How many hours of sun does your greenhouse get? What side (N, E, S, W) of the house was it placed?

    • @ExploreYourLand

      @@ghmichel72 I moved from this house over a year ago but best I can remember it was facing Southwest and would have gotten decent sun if it not for a large tree nearby. The spot wasn’t ideal but it was just about the only place available on the property. I think I started at 8am and finished maybe around 3:00pm. Good luck with your greenhouse! 💪🏽

    You do not need to spend stupid money on a tent. I bought a cheap tent some 30 yrs ago and it didn't have today's tech and it still works. Crap poles etc. but was always great to sleep in. Any tent today from a place like MW will give you a good night's sleep. I agree on getting better pegs, to me pegs are like pedals on expensive bicycles - you get your own.

    Another fun adventurous video Clint! Waters offered some helpful rapids. Scary moment was the low bridge. Highlights include the make shift head covering, Dorito’s and sandwich lunch and the jumping frog. Coolest moment is the multi-level interstate directly above the serene appearance of the waterway and nature. Really enjoyed.

      I use the metal tabs when camping the majority of the time but didn’t in this video so I could demonstrate the knot. Taut line might come in handy if those tabs broke or if you needed to tie on an extra guy line.

    Pro tip: connect it to your PFD with a carabiner so you can adjust tension left or right, using your feet against foot stops or the sides, and your hands holding the paddle like a rudder, you can actually sail with what you have ;)

      @ExploreYourLand 2 місяці тому

      @@ExploreYourLand Don't get me wrong, I love that knife, but I'm not in favour of batoning when used as a standard procedure. Under exceptional circumstances yes, but there are much better alternatives, such as using bigger more robust tools or wedges. Of course, my main question always is "Why?" Generally, there's usually more "small wood" lying around than thick logs! It's like using your knife spine to create sparks from a ferro rod and saying it is an indispensable feature of a good knife. One could use so many other items to do that! Thanks for replying. Much appreciated.
